iConnect - Helena, Montana, USA - July 2004
Tower Construction at Fiber Hotel for Broadband Wireless; Solution Cost: $20k
Contact: Michael Sheard
iConnect of Montana is a company that constructs and operates fiber hotels; locations where high-technology companies can locate their core network and server architecture in an environment that is environmentally protected and electrically protected. Each of these sites that have been established around the State of Montana -- Billings, Helena, Great Falls, Missoula, Bozeman -- have a need for wireless base-stations to be located at the fiber hotel site. As a result, radio towers must be constructed on which wireless operators can locate their base-station radio equipment.
InfoMine has worked with iConnect to construct these towers (at two different fiber hotels) that will accommodate a wide range of wireless equipment.
Butte-Silver Bow County - Butte, Montana, USA - July 2004
County Wide Wireless Network; Solution Cost: $20k/Site
Contact: Linda Sajour-Joyce
This project initially only provides for three (3) of the County locations, but is designed to scale to all of the sites throughout the County. The wireless network is a non-line-of-sight (NLOS) wireless network, making use of the latest WiMAX (IEEE 802.16) wireless standard. There is no single point of failure within the network; every County location has multiple links to different base-stations (or aggregation points) that provide access to County network resources, including the Internet.
This project has been a time consuming process; working with tight budgets yet not sacrificing any of the reliability or bandwidth requirements. The entire system is to be completely installed by the end of August 2004.
Deer Lodge Elementary School Distinct - Deer Lodge, Montana, USA - July 2004
Broadband Wireless ISP Access to School District; Solution Cost: $6k/year
Contact: Tom Cotton
In 2001 InfoMine installed a wireless broadband wireless network in the Deer Lodge valley to link together the two school districts, the public library, and a few other non-profit organizations that work closely with the school districts. There are presently 13 remote sites connected with this network and plenty of room to grow. However, InfoMine has not historically had a cost effective, E-Rate viable ISP solution for the school districts that could be delivered over this network. That all changed late 2003.
InfoMine expanded its core network in 2003, allowing it to provide some of its historical customers with ISP (and other) services that were simply not previously cost effective. The current cut-over to our wirelessly delivered ISP service will be completed by the end of August 2004.
Butte Community Health Center - Butte, Montana, USA - June 2004
Network Operating Environment w/Terminal Services; Solution Cost: $25k
Contact: Cindy Stergar
The Butte Community Health Center (CHC) is a grant-based health center that serves the lower-income residents of the Butte Community; meeting a need in these extremely tough economic times for large segments of the aging Montana population. As a result, the CHC does not have a large budget for recurring information technology costs. Therefore, a large number of aging workstations -- all running well for their time period; Windows 98, Early Versions of Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer 4 -- are still in use, yet the demand to run the latest software is still present.
InfoMine designed a network operating environment, running Microsoft Windows Server operating system, including the Microsoft Windows Terminal Services. The advantage is that all of the users now have a client server based, modern network operating environment, and are able to get additional longevity out of their existing workstation.
Powell County Sheriff Office - Deer Lodge, Montana, USA - May 2004
Enhanced 9-1-1 Dispatch Center; Solution Cost: $150k
Contact: Scott F. Howard
The entire Powell County Sheriff Office dispatch center was upgraded to include structured cabling to support voice, video and data; a new network based Avaya telephone system; a local area network running Windows 2000 Server; a network firewall; high-speed Internet access; videoconferencing access to the Montana Supreme Court videoconferencing network; radio and telephone integration at the dispatch stations; enhanced 9-1-1 system integrated into the existing mapping system.
The entire system was installed over the course of a two (2) month time span without any downtime from start of the project until the end of the training. A five (5) year total maintenance package was also included with the solution for the enhanced 9-1-1 system with a 4-hour on-site response time.
Darigold Farms - Bozeman, Montana, USA - April 2004
Network Security Firewall w/VPN Termination; Solution Cost: $10k
Contact: Marikae Kinross-Wright
Darigold Farms is a large regional dairy processing company located in Bozeman, Montana, with regional offices in Salt Lake City, Utah. Darigold had been operating a network security appliance (the Watchguard Firebox) for many years; originally purchase from InfoMine. However, with their expansion into Salt Lake City, they needed a secure VPN link between their Bozeman operation and their Salt Lake City operation. Therefore, an upgrade to their security solution was necessary.
InfoMine provided an upgrade solution for the network security equipment located in their Bozeman office and also included a smaller network security appliance in their Salt Lake City operation. We also assisted in the installation and configuration of all of these components, including the IPSEC VPN tunnel.
