Phillip Curtiss ~ Chief Information Officer (CIO)

As CIO of InfoMine Phillip is responsible for all technical elements of InfoMine's operations as well as the design and implementation of the technical solutions developed and sold at InfoMine. Integral to the growth of InfoMine is its ability to keep abreast of the current technologies and business models that surround these technologies. Phillip is also responsible for keeping the company at the cutting edge; able to understand and make use of these new technologies as they become mature enough to withstand the abuse of a production environment.

Phillip grew up in Rockville, Maryland until he entered college at the University of Maryland in 1985. Initially studying computer science and later studying mathematics as well as philosophy of language, he finally joined the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer studies where he later became the codirector of the laboratory for parallel computation. Phillip later joined the Institute as a research fellow whose research focused on the application of high-performance computing to areas of clinical medicine and biology.

After creating the first embedded graphics subsystem for the Connection Machine-5 Supercomputer, Phillip moved away from the laboratory for parallel computation and worked with the director of the Institute to initiate the formation of the Center for High-Performance Computing in Medicine and Biology. There was a lot of interest in the Center, but the Center project never moved beyond its initial formation stage. Phillip then left the University environment and moved to Montana in 1995 to begin InfoMine with Kelson Colbo and three (3) other business partners. As a cofounder, there was a lot of interest in bringing a research and development personality to InfoMine which persists today.

When not at his office reading the trade journals or on-line reading webFourms, Phillip can be found writing software, writing poetry, recreationally reading and working with friends at the local cable access television station. Phillip enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as taking in the latest movie or fine arts available in the great city of Butte, Montana.

Justin Mann ~ Information Technology Specialist (IT)

Justin is a Montana native that grew up in the north eastern part of the state. Graduating from high school in 1997, he moved to Bozeman to attend school at Montana State University (MSU) Bozeman. A year and a half into pursuing an Electrical Engineering Degree Justin changed his major to Computer Science after taking his first programming class. He continued to live in Bozeman for about four more years attending classes at MSU and working. Justin moved to Butte to focus on graduating and because of some of the other non-financial benefits of Montana Tech; such as better student to teacher ratios, excellent job placement, and a tradition of excellence in their Engineering Programs that are decades old. Justin graduated from Montana Tech with a Bachelors of Computer Science with an Emphasis on Business and a Math Minor.

InfoMine was good enough to give Justin an internship right around the time of his prospective graduation, actually fulfilling one of his last graduation requirements. Justin has been happily working with Phil and Doreena for coming up on two years now and has recently been enjoying the company of InfoMine’s newest employee Josh Barth. Montana's state owned supercomputer 'BigSky', an IBM 1350 Cluster, provided Justin with an unbelievable opportunity to work on the only supercomputer for literally miles around. Justin has worked on several projects at InfoMine including configuring and maintaining Application and Web Servers, Phone Systems, worked on several Rocky Mountain Super Computer (RMSC) proof of concepts, written code for some C# applications, and coded the majority of the website you are looking at right now. His scope of experience is not limited to the projects above, but they represent a good sampling of work experience. Justin is thriving in his current environment at InfoMine making the most of any learning opportunities that present themselves to strengthen existing and acquire new tools of the trade.
